Examining Canning Jars

This is a process that should be done every time you are getting ready to can anything. Take your jar and really look at it carefully. Look for anything like scratches you can see. If you have scratches you can see, there are scratches you can’t see. Any dents or signs of wear on the seal on the lid, through it out or use it to store leftovers. A small pint jar of leftover mashed potatoes will take up less space in your refrigerator.

Also, any signs of breaks on the rim of the jar I won’t use it for canning. I will use it for other things like holding Hersey’s Kisses. The ladies below Leisa and Heather are wonderful teachers. They are honest and absolutely thorough in their process.

Published by Scratch Kitchen

Hello y'all! I have hit a point in my life that I miss the simple dishes and times that my parents grew up in. People were kind to each other and the food was homemade from scratch. Before convince food was everywhere. Oh, those were the days... Let's reclaim them and start cooking from scratch again.
