Here’s a wonderful video from Heather at The Kneady Homesteader. Heather was the one who helped rekindle my love of cooking. I mean really cooking.
Heather inspired me to start Scratch Kitchen. Along with canning and over coming my fear of pressure cookers. She’s been home for awhile now. She’s 16 weeks into recovering from the car accident that took her husband Matt. A lot of the videos Matt was in have been marked as private for now.I am sure that will change later on.
This post is mainly for beginners or it can be a refresher for experienced home cooks. I set for about twenty minutes looking for basic directions for pulling the meat off of a chicken carcass. I know Paula Deen did one years ago back when she first started on Food Network. I remember her picking parts of that bird I had not thought to pick. By the time Paula got done with that carcass it was bucknaked.
This article is from Rachel Ray. She is just as notorious about pulling every piece of usable meat off of a carcass as Paula is.
I can’t wait to make this version of chicken and rice. It looks so delicious. On top of that, it has ingredients you may already have. Nothing gets wasted. Not even extra chicken fat. That gets used to season oil for rice cooking. I have no doubt she at the remaining leftover chicken skin after rendering out the fat.
Since finding Marion’s Kithen I have truly developed an appreciation for Thai cooking. Thai cooking for average folks is about simply use what you’ve got and keeping a well organized and stocked pantry.
Here’s an article on having a well stocked pantry. I am a fan of having a well organized and stocked pantry.
Having a child from two cultures, I’ve learned to have what I call a multi-cultural pantry. Meaning we keep stuff on hand to make any meal from either culture.
Having your pantry organized and stocked also makes meal planning easy, affordable, and quick. How to do this is easy; sales. Take advantage of every sale you can. Granted there will be items you can’t get on sale and those are the items you budget for because they are worth the money.
This post will be for my fellow KISS fans. I grew up with KISS from the late 1970s on. The music was amazing. You had Peter on drums with his jazz background, Ace on guitar with his Hendrix influence, Gene well we know more about him then some ever wanted to know. He shared his day to day life on Family Jewels. Paul Stanely has shared a certain amount of his private life. They both had a Beetles influence. This is the version of KISS I will always prefer. It was loud in your face and has influenced many of the bands I still listen to. They have been around for a long time. Seriously, they’ve out lasted at least six presidents. While I’m sad to see them go into retirement as KISS, I do agree it is time. Hell it’s probably past time. They came, saw, conquered, and nailed every groupie they wanted. Now like Mosses it’s time to kick back to enjoy a leisurely ride.
Here we go, articles warning about food shortages. Granted the article is two months old. However, we’ve been looking at this problem for over a year. Yes there are sales papers again. For how long? Over Memorial Day Kroger had advertised a sale a week prior. Problem: stores didn’t get enough products. Now that was the corporate’s fault.
Over the last two weeks we’ve seen California claim they are going to run out of water which is complete hogwash. They set right next to this thing called an ocean that’s got water. These people are so stupid that they believe it. Farmers are having to scrape their crops which demand more water than others.
They are going to grow crops that require less water. This is ridiculous. Deborah Traverse at Stopthecrime.net talks about this matter. She lives in California and is saying they aren’t running out of water. I am going to listen to her for the simple reason she’s not with the government.
After a long day of work, who isn’t tempted to roll through a fast food restaurant? Honestly, at the end of a hot summer day the last thing I want to do is to be in a hot kitchen. Usually when we go for Chinese take out we go to a little restaurant that is family owned. The quality is far superior to a chain place. Here’s an article with links to recipes to make your own take out quicker and healthier then the drive through.
Hereâs the problem I have, there are certain characters who have been saying we should not be eating meat for the environment. Back in February, there were articles circulating about how we should stop eating meat with of all people Bill Gates leading the race away from meat. This campaign has been going on for years. Gates isnât the founding father of the annoying push to force people into Vegan diets.
I say push implying force. Because that is what is happening and has been for years. These annoying idiots are everywhere. You canât turn your television on without seeing some lunatic pushing a vegan lifestyle. What they donât and wonât tell you is that you have to be under a doctorâs care to make sure you are getting the nutrients that you will no longer receive from animal-based meat.
