The Spruce

I just got done exploring this wonderful site called The Spruce. It has three different parts to it: Pets, Crafts, and Eats.

Let’s start with my favorite, Eats. Pretty much anything cooking related is here. Recipes for all levels of cooks a d from every point on earth.

Moving on the my next favorite, Pets. Y’all know I adore our fur babies. Sarge and Trixie get anything their little hearts could want. Food to toys they get spoiled. The Spruce Pets cover every aspect of pets. Type of pet, living environment that’s best for them, and plants that could be dangerous for them.

The Spruce Crafts has a great  choice of items and projects for people to do. Doesn’t matter if you are a hobby crafter or if that’s how you make a living. Single, married, kids or no kids you are going to find something there of interest.

Chinese Tools

https://thewoksoflife.com/chinese-cooking-tools/

I came across this article yesterday and wanted to share it. The couple from Wok Life shared their must have items for their kitchen. Actually any Chinese Kitchen.

I have shared articles over the last couple of months on vinegars, sauce supplies, and items such as dehydrated mushrooms. I haven’t forgotten about the Exploring Cuisines. There will be more articles and videos soon. Friday I will have the results of the biopsy that was done today.

Are grocery prices going up? Supermarkets brace for inflation

https://thetakeout.com/groceries-get-more-expensive-stockpiling-for-inflation-1847252443/amp

Are grocery prices going up? Saturday I stood in line behind a lady paying for the same amount of groceries she purchased a week earlier. The lady brought $240 exact amount from a week (or two) ago. The difference was $2. The whole order went up two dollars. She had a couple of nonfood items which had a tax attached. In Michigan there are no taxes on unprepared foods. So you tell me are prices going up.

With coming inflation that won’t be transitory and shortages (of all kinds), the next few years will be hard to get use to. With a push for a reoccurring stimulus (Universal Basic Income) of $2k a month, I don’t know if that will cover it.

Watch “Easy Homemade Baguettes ~ Bread Baking for Beginners” on YouTube

Back in February Heather launched a video series about making bread at home for those who are new to home baking.

Over the last three years I have been getting back to the essential skills of home cooking. Heather has been wonderful to watch and hear her stories about learning to cook from scratch has incredible. She is so encouraging to viewers.

Rachael Ray’s Meatloaf With A Twist Recipe

https://www.mashed.com/439809/rachael-rays-meatloaf-with-a-twist-recipe/

I love a great meatloaf. Ray Ray’s staff has delivered a great version of it.

Why use the word version? Because potatoe chips is used instead of bread crumbs. Oh yeah! There’s another opportunity to add personality right of the bat. Name the flavor and add it. You know we’d hat your family likes and don’t.

Let’s take things the next step up. Doritos! I am a fan of Cooler Ranch and Spicy Sweet Chili. My daughter is a fan of Nacho. I almost forgot Taco Flavor. Now days there’s no shortage of flavors to choose from just make sure it’s something everyone in your house likes.

The side choices are endless. We have four seasons to choose from. Hey who wants to be in the kitchen during the ssf summer. Excited yet! You can cook meatloaf on a grill or smoker. Oh my God!! This really opens up the side choices.

A Guide To A Cheap Plant-Based Diet | Plant Based And Broke

https://plantbasedandbroke.com/cheap-plant-based-diet-guide/

This article by Aly Michell is awesome. Why? What makes it awesome? Aly wrote this article from the perspective of helping people not browbeating them into a vegan lifestyle.

In my last article I referred to Vegans as annoying. Have you ever tried to have a conversation with someone who is vegan? I have tried and they are annoying.

Aly even points out in this article that plant based doesn’t mean you don’t eat meat. It just means you put veggies and other plant based proteins first. Then if your craving a Steak have one. Animal based proteins aren’t the center of your diet because it is the center of your budget. Holy cow! With meat prices on the rise, perhaps it’s time to consider plant based proteins.

The title of this site is Plant Based and Broke. I look forward to exploring this site further.

12 Cheap Plant-Based Meals That Our Family Enjoys All the Time | The Simple Dollar

Here’s some excellent ideas for getting more veggies in our own diet and our kids. Yes, this is a plant based meal plan except this gentleman eats fish. Yeah!

There are a variety of vegetarian diets. These folks tend to be less annoying than Vegans. With all seriousness this is a great article on ideas to get more grains, variety of proteins, and veggies into a meal.

Watch “Chicken Wonton Soup With Spicy Chili Oil (红油抄手)” on YouTube

Once again Mandy hit a home run with this soup.

Mandy shows how to make this spicy soup from being to end. The only thing she didn’t make was the wonton wrappers. Mandy does have a video on how to make wonton wrappers. Check it out. Right now we in the northern hemisphere are in summer and it’s too hot to be in the kitchen for hours on end.

Joshua Weisman Swedish Meatballs vs IKEA

I personally don’t remember if I have ever had Swedish Meatballs in my life. After watching this video, I can’t wait till Fall just so I can have them.

The reason I say Fall is because the meatballs are baked in the oven. During the summer we don’t turn the oven on if we don’t have to. Who decided to sell food in a furniture store anyway? This is ridiculous.

As usual Joshua’s version was far better. Since this is food sold in a furniture store, I didn’t have high expectations to start with. Even Joshua’s broccoli was better.

Stay Hydrated!

Staying hydrated during the summer is important. However, when you have temperatures up over 100 it’s lifesaving. The article below is exactly what I am referring to. People are dying not so much because of the heat rather the exhaustion and/or dehydration that comes because of the heat and humidity. Drink lots of water. I know! Water doesn’t taste the best or like cola. But it’s essential that we consume enough water so we don’t get dehydrated. Trust me it’s not fun.
