Watch “First Ever Trader Joe’s Haul” on YouTube

I was really surprised by what they had to offer. I never thought they’d have wine from various points on the earth.

Cheese selection was incredible. Trader Joe’s has a wonderful selection of meats for grazing boards.

Honesty moment. The prices for meat were average. They had beef marinated with Sharwama, Carna Asada, and butterflyed chicken in lemon and pepper marinade.

Overall I was impressed with the selection of products. I wish I could have taken time in the store at a time when it wasn’t so busy. The store was a little on the small side.

8 Chinese Cuisines & How They Differ – The Woks of Life

https://thewoksoflife.com/8-chinese-cuisines/

I came across this article last night while looking for something interesting to post here. This hit me.

This article looks at the eight official forms of Chinese Cuisine. Each one brings something unique.

1. Lu Cai – think about the Northeast corner of China. Beijing. Home of Confucius and Tsingtao Beer. Being on a coast there’s a lot of seafood.

2. Chuan Cai – Sichuan Province. Mercy! Spicy and in your face is how this province rolls.

3. Yue Cai – Guangdang Province. Think Cantonese. Okay spicy and numbing.

4. Su Cai – Jiangsu Cai. Cuisine here tends to be balanced. Not too spicy and not too sweet. Balanced.

5. Min Cai – Southeast Coastal Province. Fish. Lots and lots of fish.

6. Zhe Cai – Ankui Cai here you see a lot of fish and veggies.

7. Xiang Cai – Hunan Province is spicy and hot. Bring the sour cream or mayo if you are sensitive to heat.

8. Hui Cai – a lot of steamed fish. Most foods are steamed.

There you go. Eight top cuisines from China.

Grandma Pizza Recipe – How to Make Sheet-Pan Pizza Pie | Kitchn

https://www.thekitchn.com/meat-lovers-sheet-pan-pizza-255446

So sorry to leave y’all hanging yesterday. The place we looked at up in Ann Arbor isn’t going to work out. I am going to keep looking. Our current situation isn’t working out.

Grandmas were doing sheetpan pizza before it was a thing. It was just pizza or lunch.

Mrs. Clara talked about her mom making pizza so she could feed them all during the depression. Pizza was a way to use up veggies, meat and top with cheese. I don’t know a kid who says no to pizza. To be honest it’s an awesome way to get littles to try veggies.

You could use leftover sloppy joes, taco meat, or anything else. I have seen Big Mac Pizza. Yeah! Check out the link above for the featured pizza. Then hit Pinterest for more.

Crispy Sesame Garlic Chili Oil Noodles. – Half Baked Harvest

https://www.halfbakedharvest.com/sesame-garlic-chili-oil-noodles/

As I read this I could almost smell the sauce. Garlic and ginger together is awesome. The fragrance is amazing. Of course, garlic and anything is a great start.

Rice noodles are recommended. However if all you have is regular pasta I’m sure that would be okay. Veggies. Yes! I am thinking the fancy French green beans. Or French stlye cut on green beans. Broccoli or broccolini would be a good choice. Here’s where a quick blanching process would be great. It would set the deep green. Bell peppers are an option. Corn! Absolutely corn would be great. The bright yellow with cartots or orange bell pepper.

If you make this before I get a chance to, please share your thoughts.

The ultimate guide to making Russian shchi (RECIPE) – Russia Beyond

https://www.rbth.com/russian-kitchen/334745-ultimate-guide-russian-cabbage-soup-shchi-recipe-photos

Here’s a wonderful article on Shchi. It’s a soup trenched in history and is served in verious forms across Russia.

We are getting ready for another winterstorm which is going to be very cold. This soups sounds like a great fix for this. The winter version is hearty. Veggies like cabbage, potatoes, carrots, parsnip, and celeric root. These accompany a rich beef broth with ham shredded.

The veggies are braised. While the broth spends two to two-half hours boiling. Skim the top occasionally. Once everything is done and ready for assembly add seasonings.

I bet some Russian Black Bread would be awesome to. Or perhaps rye bread.

Beginner’s Freezer Meal 101

https://aileencooks.com/beginners-guide-planning-freezer-cooking-day/

Aileen has put together an excellent guide for people who are new to freezer meals. I will be honest, it can be overwhelming at first. Where to start? What equipment do I need? Where do I find recipes?

All that is easy. 1. Look at what you (and your family) like. What cuisines are your favorite? What is your schedule? 2. Once you answered those questions then set a day aside. You will need at least two days actually. One for inventory what you have and need. The second to do the cooking and assembling. 3. As for recipes, just use the ones you (and your family) likes. Then you have two options. One you can take a day or you can double or triple your recipe and freeze the other half. 4. Special equipment. You probably already have a lot of it. Zip lock bags, a sharpie pen for labeling, or you could use casserole dishes which are freezer friendly. Aluminum foil and pans. Plastic wrap and parchment (or waxed) paper.

Walmart has some nice freezing pans which are divided and undivided. They are under ten dollars. There’s nice bento boxes on Amazon. They also have some nice glass bowls. Just remember when you use glass you CANNOT take them from the freezer to the oven. Little expensive but you only pay once.

Alieen does have an excellent site with a variety of recipes.

Watch “Weekly Grocer Walk Through: Kroger” on YouTube

Over the last three days I have seen videos on issues with ‘best buy dates’ and salt. I stopped and really noticed this on four cans that I grabbed at random. I have also seen a couple of videos about salt shortages. While I did see alot of regular salts I have noticed that the canning salt hasn’t been as plentiful. What are you seeing in your general area?

Breakfast Burritos

These couldn’t be easier. You pick the fillings you and/or your family like and put it in a burrito shell. Feel free to make adjustments as your diet required.

Here are some ladies who have taught me how easy these are.

A favorite is Kimmie from She’s In Her Apron. Don’t get me wrong I like Jamerille Stewart. Kimmie and I both live with ADHD. Yeah! So she understands how hard it can be to get your mind focused.
