Ground Beef Recall Nationwide for Possible E. Coli Contamination

https://www.today.com/health/health/ground-beef-recall-nationwide-possible-e-coli-contamination-rcna26070

This disturbing. Yes! Another recall.

Almost five months into the year and we’ve seen about twenty to thirty fires, one whoch destroyed the Azure headquarters. Recalls and terrible planting season. There are countries who have banned the exporting of food and cooking oil.

This is just insane.

A gateway to Ural cuisine with Russian posikunchiki (RECIPE) – Russia Beyond

https://www.rbth.com/russian-kitchen/334851-ural-cuisine-posikunchiki-recipe

Posikunchiki! What to hell is this? That was my forst thought. Second thought was a meatball in dough and fried. Oh yeah!

I did a post about a Seberian treat which is a cousins to the posikunchiki. Pelmeni and Vareniki. The filling is endless. Savory or sweet it’s your choice. To be honest these remind me of empanadas. They are a great way to use leftover meat.

What to top them with? A fruit syrup or sour cream depends on you. These posikunchiki would actually make a nice breakfast on the go. Scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese. Sounds good to me. What do you think?

Rising Food Cost

I don’t know about you, but fear of rising prices and the fact we are going into the fifth month of the year can be overwhelming. Friday night I was in Prepper Nurse 1’s chat stream and there was this kind soul which informed us that gas will be up ten bucks a gallon by the end of the year. Dear God!!!

Also, as I shared earlier this month the cost of prescriptions is going up. I saw a four dollar jump in one for acid reflux. Now when you look at all of these things, don’t be surprised if your head explodes. The price of food is a whole other issue. On top of that we have fires. Yeah! Warehouses across America have been catching fire. Twenty of them in the first four months. We have to look closer at these structures.

Some of these were actual warehouses, processing plants and an Azure headquarters. That headquarter was a total lost. Some were salvageable. The Walmart in Frenchtown Michigan had a fire. It wasn’t real bad and it was caught in time. A couple of fires were so bad they raged for hours.

Now here’s the elephant in the room. Eastern Europe! Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan are the main producers os commodities like wheat for flour. As we know, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has prohibtted the growing off commodities which are desperately needed around the world. The ridiculous sanctions are hindering the shipping of grains to third world nations. Also, moving of life depended fuel like lng being hindered by stupid policies by narcissistic lunatics. (More on that angle check out my Hornsandhalo.blog.wordpress.com here on WordPress.)

What can we do to protect our holiday meals coming up? Buy now and seal (or preserve). Personally, I am going to get two hams and two turkey breast. Then I will have up coming holidays taken care of. Do this as soon as you can. Prepping is a marathon not a race y’all. You can do it even on a tight budget.

Here’s what we are seeing in Southeast Michigan. The music is Kansas Wayward Son. It was playing and I have no real way of editing it out.

30 Asian Street Foods You Need To Try Out – Chef’s Pencil

https://www.chefspencil.com/asian-street-foods/

Street food is what keeps most citizens going during a hard days work. In America it’s hot dogs. The presentation depends on where you are living in. Example: Texas you’re likely to get Chili with beef. Now cheese, sour cream, or jalapenoes is up to you. New York is raw onions and mustard. Same with pizza. New York is thin crust cheese folded over. Chicago is thick crust and sauce on top of the cheese.

In this article they look at Asian street food. Satay is meat on a stick, marinated and grilled. Then dipped in a spicy sauce. Unless you’re in Japan then the sauce won’t be about spicy bite so much as a balanced meal. While we are looking at the Northern countries let’s look st South Korea. They have have Kimichi for every occasion. Noodle dishes and rice dishes are in abundance for street food as well.

Now it’s South we go. China has so many things to offer. Steamed buns called Bao and dumplings. Noodle and rice dishes are offered with meat and without. Vietnam is known for Bhan Mhi sandwich and Pad Thai. Indonesia is at the perfect opportunity to enjoy fried rice in any form. Seafood galore. And fruits like mangoes. Yes!!! Pineapple. oh yeah!

I am getting hungery so it’s time for me to eat… See y’all later.

Watch “My Singapore crab showdown!… Salted Egg Crab VS Black Pepper Crab | Marion’s Kitchen” on YouTube

If you love crab this is for you. Warning! Tgese crabs aren’t your Baltimore softshell crabs. They have attitude to them.

Peppercorns put through a pestal and mortar. Cooked with garlic and shallots. The second sauces is salted egg yolks. This was a new one for me. I had no idea eggs were sold like this. Of course, Marion got her mom Nori to help crack eggs for egg yolks.

These are classic Singapore preparations for crabs. Hope y’all enjoy these crabs.

International Food Crisis

Who controls the food supply controls the people; who control the energy can control whole continents; who controls money can control the world.

HENRY KISSINGER

Alright y’all Easter is behind us and we have at least six American holidays left and Christmas followed by New Year to look forward to. Today, The German grocer Nord Aldi is raising its prices again. That’s twice in one month. We have to get real about the sanctions and how they are going to affect our food supply chain going forward into 2022. We may not be feeling the strain now, have no doubt it will happen this year or early next year.

First, let’s talk about limits. Back in February, I noticed that Walmart in Frenchtown Michigan had put limits on baby formula. It doesn’t matter what brand you buy it’s limit is five per day. According to the article from Eatthis.com, there are more limits to come from Costco, Kroger, and gas stations. People have noticed that there have been limits on how much gas they could purchase at the pump but if you go into the station then you could purchase more than the pump allows. What’s going to be limited? Pet food, sugar, gas, and online items you can purchase through Costco’s site.

Second, let’s look at the wheat production chart. You look at the first map showing who produces the most it’s China. With India and Russia right behind them. America is in fourth place. We use to be number one in a lot of things we exported. Now we export war, famine, and destruction. The situation in England is getting to the point that the anti-Russia sanctions movement is losing steam according to a poll taken over the month. There was also a poll taken in Germany regarding rationing gas and the Germans aren’t in favor. The politicians have a problem on their hands. They can’t keep their citizens on board with supporting Ukraine at the cost of their own lives. Since the sanctions, everything in Europe has gone up. Fuel and food! The problem is that wages aren’t going up to keep up. This is why France is considering food vouchers for the lower middle class.

Easter Day!

Hope you had a wonderful Easter. Everyone survived no ER visits for any reason. The annoying relative annoyed everyone but you. Perhaps it’s the wine or you were able to avoid them. Either way, they are gone and you won’t have to see them till the next holiday when someone else cooks in their home because you’ve met your obligation for the year.

Now you have all this ham. There are so many possibilities for it. Sliders, sandwiches, or casseroles. Salads go without saying. This is where Pinterest is a God-sent. So many ways to use that ham. Of course, these recipes will work with any meat you have leftover.

Soups, salads, sandwiches and sliders are the usual favorites. Given the rising cost of food (and everything else) you going to want to pull every piece of meat off of the bone. Casseroles come to mind.
