Budget Friendly Meals

With the cost of everything on the rise here’s a few meals that will fill you up without draining your account. Good news is your probably already have everything you need in you home.

American Goulash is something I grew up eating. I still enjoy it as an adult. It’s ground meat, tomatoes, mushrooms and seasoning. My late mom cooked the pasta in Goulash. I personally, cook the pasta separately till it’s almost done. Then I will add the pasta to the Goulash.

Numerous versions of chili. Who doesn’t love chili? Especially during the winter. A little bit of cheese and sour cream.

The old favorite rice and beans. There are so many ways to make this. You could have rice and beans than add different elements with different seasonings and not have the same version twice a week.

Thai Pork Laab Salad | Marion’s Kitchen

https://www.marionskitchen.com/thai-pork-laab-salad/

This is the perfect summer dinner salad meal. Seriously! If you don’t do pork cool just switch to the protein you use. The best part is you only need a cooktop. No oven! 🍾πŸ₯‚

Confession: I was going to share a post from Australia about salads. Problem is that here in America we either can’t get lamb or it’s crazy expensive. Of course, now all meat is expensive.

This Thai salad has some big flavors. Your family or guest won’t know it took you less than an hour to make this salad. Especially when they bite into it and get a mouth full of flavor. Hope you m as ke this at some point.

Sweet and Sour Chicken

I recently made sweet and sour chicken for the first time. It was a good start. I used a marinade and after about ten minutes added cornstarch. It could’ve been easier.

Ka Pai has an awesome version of this Chinese favorite. On top of that it would be a great way to entertain your kids. Put in Mulan and have lunch on the floor. Of course, that’s only one idea. I know some mamas have to work. Another idea would be to set a schedule so you and your kiddies could facetime while having the same lunch.

Want enchiladas but don’t want to turn your oven on? This is a great compromise. You all the great taste of enchiladas with minimal work. That’s the great thing about casseroles.

Sarah has delivered the great taste of enchiladas here. What to serve on the side? Refried beans or a rice of some kind. Than there’s the usual items; sour cream, salsa, lettuce and tomatoes.

Sarah”s brilliance doesn’t stop there. She has a list of great crockpot meals you’d usual lut in your oven.

Watch “Wal-Mart Walk Through” on YouTube

I’m happy to say that instant mashed potatoes have stayed the same in price. Here’s the some what good news, one cut of steaks were rolled back to $10.97. I’m not impressed. Walmart had better get back to rolling back prices. On top of that the bend for $.98 spices is now a dollar. Yeah!

All in all I am not impressed with the incredibly rising prices. This isn’t ‘The Price Is Right’ game show. This is people’s lives their budgets are having to be readjusted every week. If it’s not the gas tank it’s the grocery store. I dread the next pharmacy stop. I know there’s a chance the price for my anti-acid will be higher.

As we’ve all heard of the possibilities of running out of DEF. A chemical truckers use. More of they have to use to keep their trucks going. Also, the availability of diesel fuel for trucks have been goong up so high for a year now. This a recipe for disaster.

MYOTO: Mexican Pizza

https://flavorite.net/mexican-pizza/

On May 19 Taco Bell brought their Mexican Pizza back. However, after a two year hiatus, Taco Bell ran out of the Mexican Pizza. Little over a month from it’s return it’s gone again.

So here’s your opportunity to have Mexican Pizza at home anytime you want. Yeah! You can make this culinary delight anytime. You can choose what is and isn’t on it.

I have to confess that when the Mexican Pizza returned I didn’t get one. I’d heard mixed reviews and some good and some not. I know how to make it myself so I skipped it. How will I go on??

Thai Food Culture

https://highheelgourmet.com/2014/03/29/thai-dipping-sauce-nam-jim/

Here’s a wonderful article about the Thai Cuisine Culture. This is something I didn’t know is that Thai chefs often cater dishes to customers taste. This however will often make French chefs scream. They will go screaming into the night.

Don’t get me wrong. I have the up most respect for these chefs. It takes years of work to be a great chef. A great deal of discipline as well. I would prefer Thai chefs over French chefs. Thai chefs are little more relaxed and more accommodating to customers.

The article is about the common condiments on the Thai table: sugar, chili pepers dried or in oil, fish sauce, chili vinegar, sweet chili sauce. Thai folks use these like Americans use mayo, ketchup, mustard or barbecue sauce.

These sauces are used to dip and season foods with.

Charcuterie Board

Look at this… πŸ‘€ https://pin.it/2twm98e

Charcuterie boards are perfect for summer. You do minimal cooking which means less cooking. It also means few dishes. How?

Start with looking at what your family likes. That will always determine what comes in to your kitchen. Can you do two boards? Yes! I would recommend that. The taste of kids is different than the taste of adults. How about a cuisine featured board?

It’s your board. Do it the way you want. Just remember it should be easy and for the summer it should be little cooking. And reduce the time spent cleaning to increase the time for fun. I hope this helps inspire you to put together a healthy fun charcuterie board that will keep you out of the kitchen and out fir fun
