62 Christmas Eve Dinner Ideas

https://www.tasteofhome.com/?s=62+Christmas+Eve+Dinner+Ideas

For the next three weeks we will look at ideas for Christmas Eve Dinner. Think about! Christmas Day Dinner has so much pressure. A Christmas Eve Dinner would be perfect alternative. Below will be ideas that stood out to me.

MAKEOVER TRADITIONAL LASAGNA: Who doesn’t love Lasagne in some form or another? This one is a remake of traditional Lasagna. Using turkey sausage instead of pork sausage. Other than that it’s the traditional Lasagna.

JUCY HERB-ROASTED TURKEY: Yeah! A turkey on Christmas Eve. Pot luck the sides. And for Christmas you could have Turkey Dumpling Soup or turkey Tamales.

CHICKEN ALFREDO LASAGNA: Hello! Fettuccine Alfredo is my favorite meal to have at Olive Garden. I make a killer version at home. This lasagna has the chicken with Alfredo with lasagna pasta. OMG! I am not a big fan of asiago cheese. So I would double up on the parm and mozz. Adding cream cheese. Yeah!

HOLIDAY HERB-CHEESE ROLLS: Again the bread sticks at Olive Garden and Red Lobster rolls are a favorite. These would combine both.

MEATBALL CHILI WITH DUMPLINGS: This caught my eye. It’s meatballs in chili with cornmeal dumplings. Chili and cornbread go great together. This just puts them in one pot. You could do this in a slow cooker.

RICH SEAFOOD CHOWDER: If you live on a coastal area here’s an awesome idea for you. Chowder. Catch your seafood fresh and make this chowder or any one of these meals in the post.

I hope this helps y’all.

Here are eighty recipes in this post from Taste Of Home site. These are meals I use eat growing up. Below will be once I have fond memories of.

POT ROAST: We had pot toast either pork or beef. It was always good.

POT PIE: I love pot pies. Turkey after Thanksgiving. Amazing!

SLOPPY JOES: Awesome! I used to gobble these up.

HAMBURG STEAKS: Aka Chopped Steak. Pass the A1 sauce! I loced these because my parents rarely ever bought steaks. They were too expensive to buy. Once maybe twice a year we’d have am actual steak.

What meals do you enjoy more now as an adult than you did as a kid?

PureWow by Delia Mooney has over fifty wonderful recipes. Below will be the ones that peaked my interest.

TACOS: Two stood out to me. Slow cooker Crispy Carnitas and Korean Beef Tacos. As always you serve these the way you and your family like.

BAKED PASTA: Sausage and Cheese Rigatoni. Yum…. Next up is Caramelized Shiitake Risotto sounds incredible.

These are the things that peaked my interest. There are breakfast casseroles here and three desserts.

Comforting Winter Soups

https://thebusybaker.ca/comforting-winter-soups/

This post has an endless choice of soups for the cold winter weather. They are guaranteed to kick the chill you pick up outside.

HOMEMADE HUGARIAN GOULASH SOUP: This has all the ingredients of a classic Hungarian Goulash. A thick delicious stick to your ribs stew.

SLOW COOKER MINESTRONE SOUP: This is my favorite Olive Garden soup. It’s packed with veggies and delicious flavor. Kidney beans bring protein without dominating the beef stock.

LASAGNA SOUP: Yeah! I saved the best for last. Lasagna Soup. It’s Lasagna without the layering.

Which of the soups stood out to you? I do plan on making Minestrone. It’s delicious.

47 Casseroles That Put Your 8×8 Pan To Work

Look at this… 👀 https://pin.it/4MUUb2A

Here’s an awesome collection of casseroles you could make ine for dinner and one for the freezer. Of course, you need to make sure you (and your family) will enjoy them. Below will be the ones that stood out to me.

SALSA VERDE CHICKEN CASSEROLE: Tex-Mex your thing. This casserole has it in one pan. Salsa verde is a salsa with tomatilloes instead of tomatoes. Tomatilloes are related to the gooseberries. (Hernedez brand has a great authentic product line. Of course, you could make it yourself.)

CHIPOTLE MAC & CHEESE: This is a spicy dish. You can adjust the heat as you (and your family) likes. Just remember cheese will take to the heat.

TACO SALAD CASSEROLE: Okay, maybe I should have some tacos. Or anything passable as breakfast.🥰

POT PIES: There are three pot pie recipes here that would be a great way to use up leftover chicken or turkey.

VEGGIE CASSEROLES: These casseroles are a great way to get your family or yourself to eat veggies. Theres a vegetable based lasagna.

PEAR-STUFFED FRENCH VANILLA TOAST: This sounds like a slam dunk for favorite breakfast or dessert favorite. You got pecans, raisins, vanilla, cinnamon and melted French Vanilla Ice Cream. Okay that was a new one to me. It still sounds delicious.

There are pasta bakes here. I focused on the ones that stood out for having potential.

Chicken Enchiladas

Kate and Dustin at Live Craft Eat (www.livecrafteat.com) make these chicken enchiladas and they look delicious.

Plus they give directions to freezing this meal. We’re going to look at the recipe itself. Super easy. And it would be great way to use chicken you have in your freezer that needs to be used. Or if you are blessed with rotisserie chicken or four (you need 7 1/2 cups). You could cut the recipe in half.

You’ve got cream of chicken soup with sour cream. The chili’s in it won’t be super spicy. They will bring the right amount of bite. Tortillas are up next. I recommend taco or fajita size. They will roll up easy.

Poverty Chili

This weekend we are putting up our Christmas decorations and it got me thinking what would be perfect to feed a family while decking the halls. Granted we are going to have pizza because I got a coupon.

If you have a family decorating for Christmas chili would be awesome to feed a crowd or family. You could setup a chili bar so everyone could put their favorite toppings on it.

Toppings! I keep it simple with sour cream and cheese. You could go wild. Whatever your family or group likes.

Jimmy John’s Sub Rolls

https://thebrilliantkitchen.com/jimmy-johns-bread-recipe/

My daughter has fallen in love with Jimmy John’s Turkey Tom. Like any good mom I found the recipe for the roll. Above is a link to a copycat version.

Let’s talk bread. These rolls have a wonderful crumb on the inside. Nice and soft. The crust has a crispy flaky outside. The filling is mayo, Turkey, cheese, and lettuce with Tomato.

I have to say these sandwiches are better than Subway.

55 Last-Minute Christmas Dinner Ideas

We are roughly a month away from Christmas. So, for the next few Tuesdays upt till Christmas we will explore ideas for budget friendly meals for Christmas that will be delicious. Christmas itself should be about the birth of Jesus not about useless stuff and credit card bills that never end. Below will be items that stood out to me.

POTLUCK SAUSAGE CASSEROLE: this casserole is packed with flavor. It has pasta, sausage, veggies and cheese. It’s like lasagna without the layering.

SPICED SALMON: This might be on the pricy side depending on where you are. I do have ideas for less expensive option. Mahi Mahi is a beautiful fish and would hold up well to these seasonings. Trout, flounder and catfish would be good choices as well.

CIDER-GLAZED PORK TENDERLOIN: This glaze is simple and sounds delicious. I’m sure you could use chops in place of tenderloin.

GARLIC CHICKEN WITH HERBS: This uses chicken thighs. You could use skin on if you choose. Just make sure you brown the skin real good. Beyond that enjoy.

DANISH MEATBALLS WITH PAN GRAVY: This would be a cool way of having beef and pork for Christmas. It’s not the hum drum meatballs.

Okay that’s it for this week.
