17 Easy Winter Comfort Food Recipes

Look at this… 👀 https://pin.it/5uKLHSX

I am doing this post on Friday and it’s cold and snowy. It’s 24° right now. Below will be recipes that stood out to me. Did I mention it’s by Ak Pal. He’s a food blogger. Part-time Model and Sketch Artist.

LASAGNA SOUP: This soup is like Lasagna only quicker. No layer needed. What to serve it with? Salad, antipasto, or appetizers. Garlic bread. Pinterest has copycat recipes for Olive Garden bread sticks or Macaroni Grill’s bread which is heavily. Dessert could be light. A fruit cobbler warm would be delicious.

CHILI MAC: Oh yeah! It’s chili and it’s pasta. I grew up eating a form of this. Here’s what is awesome about chili mac, you can make it as spicy or mild as you like. Personally, I love to add a can of red enchilada sauce. It has all the seasonings you need. What to serve with this? Cheese sticks, quesadillas, or tortilla chips. For bread you go with corn bread. Dessert, tres leche cake or flan.

CLASSIC GERMAN GOULASH: This us as classic as brats. It’s fairly inexpensive to make and you can feed a herd. What to serve with it? There are a variety of Winter Salads you could serve with this Goulash. Northern German Composed Salad which is similar to the Nicoise Salad. Rye or pumpernickel bread is served across Germany. Dessert: Rote Grutze (Red Berry Pudding). This would be perfect to serve after Goulash. Would be light and refreshing. Not heavy like ice cream or a cake.

Those are the ones that stood out to me. I included suggestions of what to serve with each one.

Starbuck’s Protein Box

Starbuck’s is the home of over priced food. Here’s a MYOTO post that that will help you enjky these awesome boxes for less money. And you’ll be able to make more of them. Below will be a few combinations.

BOX 1: The one pictured with celery, carrots, apple, hard boiled eggs and peanut butter. I almost forget cheese.

BOX 2: Piscuotto, mozzarella sticks, olives, red peppers with humus and dates.

BOX 3: This is inspired by the famous French Nicoise Salad. This salad has bib lettuce, green beans, cucumbers, tuna, hard boiled eggs, potatoes, cherry tomatoes, olives and onions. So here’s a quick box idea. Dressing on the side treated like a dip. You could replace the tuna with a cheese like brier. It will be easier and you are going back to work.

Above are three suggestions. You can take any salad or meal and break it down into box meal.

Here we go. Next Friday starts Lent Friday Meatless meals. So let’s jump into it. Below will be the ones that stood out to me.

VEGETABLE PIZZA: I love vegetable pizza. Grilled veggies with cheese. Yum! Pair this with a Greek Salad and bread sticks.

TOMATO TORTELLINI SOUP: This sounds delicious. Of course, for Lent leave out the meat. This recipe uses diced tomatoes. I would replace the regular tomatoes with fire roasted tomatoes. For side you could serve a vegetable pasta salad.

BREAKFAST FOR DINNER: This always fun. This post has blueberry pancakes, grits and vanilla pudding fruit salad. This would be a great meal.

This is first of many Lent friendly meals. Each Thursday will have one until after Easter. Hope y’all enjoy.

Next Christian Holiday: Easter

April 9th is Easter Day. I know! It seems like we were celebrating the birth of Christ and now we will by celebrating the scarifice he made for us. His death on the Cross.

Over the last fifty years, we have witnessed this most holy day be reduced to commericalism. I wonder if most people even remember what it’s supposed to mean. Up till Easter, we’ll look at having an Easter celebration which will respect what it should mean. I am not saying don’t do fun activities with children or not to get together with family. Christ loved children and families. Below will be an outline of things we will be looking at. I invite you to comment and share your family stories.

WEEK 1: Lent for Catholics is around the corner. It’s that time that they decided what they will give up during Lent Season. Usually Fridays are a meat (red or white) free day. Their main meal that day will be fish ir veggie based. We will start to look at meals which fit this and will be easy/inexpensive to make.

WEEK 2: Decide who will host Easter Dinner. Games and activities for children. There’s nothing more troublesome than a bored child. Trust me! We will look closer at this in week four.

WEEK 3: For this post, we will assume you will be the host of Easter Dinner this year, plan on what you have and will need to borrow.

WEEK 4: Time to think about activities for children. As with last year, you need to make plans for indoor and outdoor activities. With the crazy weather, it would wise to think about this.

WEEK 5: This week is about cleaning and preparing your home for guest. If you have the money than pay someone to do a mega deep cleaning. Otherwise draft guest.

WEEK 6: Sales watch begins. This the week you want to look at sales.

WEEK 7: Decide on your protein. Ham, beef, or lamb. This is the week to decide.

WEEK 8: Confirm with guest what time to arrive. And if your doong a pot luck than remind than of what they agreed to bring.

WEEK 9: Time for touching up your home. Collect the items you will need.

That’s it for today. Tomorrow we start looking at veggie and/or fish based meals for Lent Fridays.

Look at this… 👀 https://pin.it/4mWym4w

This is the last Valentine’s Day 2023 post. I will look at one each element of your dinner. Once you’ve got the dinning area set up and all you have to do is finish this meal off.

DRINK: Raspberry Martini. Or any martini your spouse loves.

SALAD: There is a winter salad featured here. That would be great seasonal item. Around my home we like a Caesar Salad. There was a second salad recommend. The salad could be prepared ahead. Wash greens and make dressing and store it separately.

DINNER: Red Wine Braised Short Ribs. This screams Julia Child. We aren’t into polenta but mashed potatoes. Lay it down on a plate and run the other direction.

DESSERT: Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Brownies! I love Reese’s peanut buter cups delicious. This brownie brings both these together.

Happy Valentine’s Day Tea Party! 💘

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💘 https://pin.it/Cg7ORHP

This came across my radar Friday. This post has some really cute ideas for a Valentine’s Day Tea Party with your littles. It has everything from decorations to food.

FOOD: This is simple sandwiches, scones and macaroons.

TEA: I don’t think you’d want a strong flavored tea. Something mellow like Earl Grey.

DECORATIONS: This is where the fun starts. Use what you have. Let your kiddies get involved. There’s an abundance of free printables online.

TABLESCAPE: This is again is where you could let your kiddies help out.

Why let them help? Growing up my mom had me belp with setting the table and clearing it. It teaches responsibility and encourages them to be active in the home.
