As the title says, see what Marion whips up with 44 lbs of ham. Okay! They only used half of it but they came up with some great ideas. Soup to a fancy sandwich. Below will be some alternative ideas for different proteins.

RAGU: Pasta at last! Using lamb to make a pasta dish is awesome! This is a sauce you could assemble and put into your crockpot. Let cook for a couple of hours on low and it will be perfect.

BURRITOS: This idea could apply to any Easter protein leftover. Or a burrito bowl.

QUESADILLAS: Yep! You had to know this was coming. Quesadillas are a great to use up leftover meat. Don’t forget about tacos.

FRIED RICE: Fried rice is also a great way to use up leftovers.

Easter Dinner Leftovers

Now that Easter dinner is over, what are you going to do with the leftovers. We are having ham. I plan on making Cuban Sliders. However, what if you don’t have ham. What then? Below will be some suggestions that will work with most proteins.

FRIED RICE: Okay this post has Hawaiian Fried Rice. It’s ironic because I was also thinking about fried rice prior to this post. Fried rice is a great way to use up any proteins and veggies you have.

CASSEROLES: There’s no shortage of casseroles out there to use up leftover meats.

SANDWICHES: Again there’s no shortage of options.

Once last recommendation is to check out Marion’s Kitchen on YouTube. Look up What I Made With 44 Pounds of Ham. Granted this was ham from Christmas but the recipes would still work. Of course, they have an Asian feel to them.

Jesus’s Death: The Reason For Easter

As you get ready to have Easter dinner tomorrow, take time to remember what the day is supposed to be about. The sacrifice of God’s only son for the eternal forgiveness of our sins. 

A few years ago I developed a tradition without trying. I have The Bible on dvd by History Channel. I watch the part about Jesus as a reminder of what Jesus did so I could have forgiveness for my sins. I usually listen to this while cooking Easter dinner. 

Two Days Till Easter! 🐇

Here we are two days till Easter. Below is a checklist of what we’ve got done.

PROTEIN: Yesterday we got our ham. Kroger was running a sale for their hams if you spend twenty five dollars the ham is seventy-nine cents a pound. Otherwise it’s $.89. Which still isn’t bad.

SIDES: Mashed potatoes, corn (as long as I don’t forget), King’s Hawaiian Rolls and dessert. My potatoes are made with cream cheese. It’s rich and decadent.

CLEANING: This will be easy because we keep it tidy to start with. All I have to do is put the drip guards in the washer and wipe the stove down.

Bible Verses on Eggs

Okay here’s a cute idea to do with your littles. Taking verses related to Jesus and his resurrection and place them on Eggs cut from paper plates. Christine does a great job with giving directions to make these eggs. What kind of activities can you do with these eggs? How could you display them? Below will be one idea each because I know you already have enough to do.

GAME: Scavenger hunt. Yeah! Hide the eggs and let the littles find them. You could give a prize to whoever finds the most or a certain egg. Your prize will be finding a paper egg seven months down the road because you came across it instead of smelling it.

DISPLAY: Garland. Take the eggs and string them on yarn. Display them on a mantel or on the wall. Once Easter is over you can fold them up for next year. This can become part of your Easter decor every year.

Developing New Skill

I have wanted to learn how to sew for years. Growing up I had ADHD and dyslexia. So there was a trick to me learning a skill; I have to actually engage in the skill. That means I have to actually use the skill. I have your basic first Singer machine.

Flash forward to 51, I am doing this. Yep! I am learning how to sew. Machines have changed. They have more stitches and they can even do fancy things like embroidery. Some of the can do all this plus make they can quilt.

Pressor feet come in all shapes with all different functions. There’s even a foot that functions like a serger. A serge will give you that polished looked you get from mass produced clothing. It trims the seam allowance portion of your garment. And puts a beautiful finish on your garment. Some of the Serger machines are setup to use a blade or not. They do have their limits.

Kimmie has some new Easter recipes here. Kimmie is sharing old recipes that her family loves. She does share her planner.

Her tablescape is beautiful. I share Kimmie’s channel a lot because she is very relatable. You’re going to see her use decor and tablescape items she already has. Rarely does she buy something specifically for a meal setting. Unless she can get a decor item marked down than yes she will. This is how so many Americans live.

Just a quick check in. Sarge is almost fully recovered. Tuesday, he goes to get his stitches out. 

I said in the video that we would meet next Sunday. I just realized that next Sunday is Easter. Where is this year going?

Russian Easter Hot Meat Pie/Kulebyaka

This sounds delicious. The picture reminds me of a giant hot pocket. Below is a breakdown of each component.

BREAD: This starts as a typical bread dough. What makes this dough different is the egg yolks.

BILINI: This isn’t anything amazing. The filling layers are amazing.

MEAT FILLING: What would make this amazing is the dill. I love the aroma of dill.

MUSHROOM FILLING: This recipe doesn’t really specify what kind of mushrooms. Use what you have but they can’t be canned.

EGG & RICE FILLING: This would be a great way to use up rice and hard boiled eggs.

From here follow directions and I am sure it would be incredible.
