Here’s so tips for frugal homemaking. Manuela owns A Cultivated Nest and this blog is from one of her team members. While this is looking at a daily schedule, below are things we do to run a ftugal home.
SLOW COOKER: Using your slow cooker/Insta Pot during the summer will save you you a fortune. Don’t forget your air fryer.
CLEANING: I have a basic water and vinegar spray I use for quick clean ups.
CLOTH: Using cloth towels for cleaning saves a fortune. I do laundry twice a week anyway. Dry your laundry outside if possible.
OPEN WINDOWS: During the summer it can be insanely hot and expensive too. That’s because of air conditioners. Holy cow! By opening windows and having fans you will save money.
WATCH PRICES AND MYOTO: Watching the prices at your favorite stores is important. Understanding the unit price and how units are in a box will help you understand if a sale is a sale or not. Pinterest is a great FREE resource for MYOTO (Make Your Own Take Out) meals.
Our weekend plan has been half way accomplished. I planned on shampooing my room and moving the bed by the window. DONE! Seriously! It’s done and we have tomorrow to resettle one of our racks back where it was.
The microwave will get moved on the other side of the freezer. The plastic shelving units are being loaned out to a friend for their storage unit. Also we will go through the Christmas stuff we haven’t used in five years. It will be donated. Happily!
In this post there is 13 beautiful Mothers Day Decor. Below will be the ones I liked the best.
MOTHER’S DAY ALOHA BRUNCH: My daughter’s first birthday party for a school friend was a Hawaiian theme. It was cute. This decor reminded me of that.
MOTHER’S DAY BOHO CITRUS TABLESCAPE: This decor is very tropical. The succulents, grapefriuts cut in half. If you don’t dig grapefriut, go with oranges or mangos.
VINTAGE MOTHER’S DAY PARTY: I love this theme with soft colors. They are just bright enough to get your attention but not overwhelming.
MOTHER’S DAY TEA PARTY: This such a cute idea. Little sandwiches, cakes and tea. Sharing these with your little ones.
Here are 15 tablescapes for Summer. With all fairness it’s 48° but feels like 43°. But I am hopeful. Below will be ones I really like. And could see us using if we had a back yard.
BLACK & WHITE SUMMER TABLE DECOR: Black and White meets green apples with daisies.
SIMPLE SUMMER CENTERPIECES: I like centerpieces that are simple and can be put on the outter sides of the room.
SPRING COASTAL STYLE TABLE DECORATIONS: I like everything about this. The soft colors are relaxing. The shade of blue is beautiful. The centerpiece is tall enough guest could talk around it.
May 14th is Mother’s Day. The next few weeks I am going to share some ideas to celebrate that day without breaking the bank. Also, I will share meal ideas.
For today the idea I will pitch is take over some of her duties. Seriously! If there’s something mom does and you can do it, go for it. I am talking about anything major. If there’s dusting to be done, do it. She’ll appreciate one day not having to do this.
Make her favorite meal. Have dad help with the cooking if needed. Or order her favorite meal to be picked up or delivered.
Sewing is a skill we are going to need going forward through the next few years. So this is my goal for 2023 besides survive.
I know these machines can be expensive. Singer.com has machines for half of the price of brand new machine. If you’re going to use these buy now pay later programs this is where to use it. Fingerhut, Ginny’s and Seventh Avenue have good options. Also, there are sites that offer financing. Below will be ones I’ve explored.
SINGER.COM: Yep! As in the machines. They have a great variety of machines to choose from. Even the serger or overlock machines. Projects and blogs to look through. Accessories! Uh yeah! Lots of accessories specifically for Singer machines.
MADAMSEW.COM: This site has a great variety of sewing tools for all sewing projects and organization.
SEWINGPARTS.COM: This site is the bomb. Sewing, quilting, embroidery and serger machines are here along with accessories and, YES patterns.
I have spent the last two weeks of Sarge’s recovery caring for him and watching documentaries about the Nazis in Germany from the 1930s and 1940s. I am by no means saying what they became wasn’t evil. Never! In this video, I want to question who was truly evil. Who took it to another level no one ever thought possible? Spoiler alert: it wasn’t just the top-ranking nazis.
So who was the most genuinely evil? Those who stood by and enabled them. Not just the German citizens who had to know something was genuinely horrible. You know those who lived near the camps and saw the waves of smoke coming out of the chimneys. They smelled the smoke and the awful smell of burning bodies. Said nothing. No one ever said no. No one said this is wrong. Governments across Europe had to know something awful was happening in Germany. It wasn’t until they could no longer hide what was happening did they say a word when it was convenient for them to manipulate the masses into going to war against Hitler.
Oh yeah! Every government head at the time knew what was going on. Yet they turned a blind eye. They didn’t want another war in Europe. I get it. They were just recovering from the First World War. By the time Hitler’s brutality became clear and there could be no more peace treaties signed, no more compromises could be made, then citizens were told about the camps and other horrors going on in Germany. The truth of the matter is this, Governments knew about these things during the Olympics in Berlin which Hitler attended.
You don’t have citizens go missing without neighbors noticing. Even they were silent. After all, the missing were Jews. It was easy to overlook until others like the handicapped were sent to learn how to ‘live’ on their own. This was a one-way trip. Dissidents who disagreed with the nazi lunatics went missing. Gypsies and others deemed undesirable also went missing. With this how citizens could ignore what was happening is beyond me. More importantly, the League of Nations (UN) which was supposed to keep peace also ignored what was going on in Germany. Swiss bankers in Switzerland not only ignored what was happening, but they funded it. Talk about evil. It stopped there, right?
NO! There were companies like IBM and Coke A Cola who benefited from the nazis. Fanta Orange was a favorite drink of Germans. Standard Oil owned by the Rockefeller family benefited as well. Let’s not forget Rothschild’s banking system who funded the whole affair. It’s hard to really point at who was the evilest, but the blame for what happened is plentiful. Why is this important? Because we are witnessing this happening again. This time it’s been in Ukraine. The Ukrainian government has been repeating this process against Ukrainian citizens who are Ethnic Russians. Now the government under Zelensky is going after the Orthodox Church in Ukraine.
Here’s my question to you, are you willing to be silent? Or will you be silent til they come after you and there’s no one left to speak out?

Today is Earth Day. So here’s what we do for the earth everyday. Not just on Earth Day.
We use cloth towels, dish clothes, and napkins. Yeah! In 2018 I started canning and realized how many paper towels I was using. Canning to save money on food but I was spending that money on paper products.
Limit runs to the store. We go to the store maybe twice a week. Other than that it’s when a group of us go together.
We try to share meals. I enjoy cooking. The problem is with casseroles you have to make a large amount. Problem solved. We share these meals by dividing them up after they are cooked for a friend of ours in freezer containers. Reusable of course.
We’ve been doing these things for sometime. Laundry is twice a week. I wish I could say we use the facilities in our complex, but we don’t because the people here are disgusting. What do you do everyday for the earth? Not just on Earth Day.
