We are taking a day to decompress. I will also try to do some canning projects.

Tomorrow’s Video
I am going to share our menu for the last week of March. Then we will try to stick to it.
Stuffing Waffle
Yeah! This is an idea that I came across on Sutton Daze Monday Night Chat back in November. It was posted as a way to use up leftover stuffing by putting it in your waffle maker. I am sure it would work with a mini doughnut maker.
Thursday Sales
Anyway, these sales are for the area of Southeast Michigan where we live. Remember to stock up on items you could barter with in a SHTIF situation. These should be items you and your family aren’t that crazy about eating.
Aldi’s
Aldi’s is starting out strong with baby carrots at $.79 a bag and celery at $.99 each bunch. Kirkwood Chicken wings either bbq or buffalo flavored are $4.99. These three things go great together. Their take and bake pizzas are $4.99 with a variety of toppings. Chips are $.99 per bag. Their chips are good. Appetizers are $1.79 for the cheese sticks or stuffed jalapeno. Deli salsas are $1.99 each. Emporium Selection Fresh Mozzarella Ball or Pre-Sliced Log $2.39 each. This is a pretty good price. Italian sausage or Bratswurth is $2.49 their rolls are always $.85 for the regular rolls. They do have fancier rolls and I guess with Super Bowl you may want to go all out. Can we talk about onion rings right quick? Their brand of onion rings is pretty good. They can be compared to Burger King’s onion rings. At $2.19 for a 16 oz bag is not bad. The fries are good as well. When I can pick up the spiral ones I grab them. Mama Cozzi’s pizza rolls are as good as Totinos at $2.59 they are just as good for less money. Specially Selected Garlic Cheese Flatbread $2.19. If you are new to Aldi, Specially Selected is their gourmet line. They do have a nice line of foreign beers.

Kroger
Let’s start with frozen appetizers. Of course, I do recommend making your own if you can and have time. If not then Krogers has your back. The items for 25% off of the shelf tagged price. They do have DiGiorno pizzas on sale for $7.29 but I feel like you would be better of getting the pizzas in the deli for what you are getting. The 12 or 8 packs are on sale 4 for $11 only on Coke, Pepsi, or Verners. They do have the DiGiorno Pizzeria style pizza on sale for $1.99. Also, the Tombstone Pizza is on sale for $2.49. If you are having a small Super Bowl get together than these pizzas would be okay. However, for a large crowd, go for the pizzas in the deli. Hillshire Smoked Sausage is on sale for $1.88. Not bad. This is the digital four-day sale. Deli chicken is $6.99 with a Kroger card. Italian Sausage or Brats are 2/$7.
Meijer
Meijer is started out strong as well. Mangos or Avocadoes are $.99 each. A 5-pound bag of Navel Oranges or Grapefruit is buy one get one free. The frozen pizza sale isn’t that great so just skip them and go to the deli. They also have Coke, Pepsi, and Dr. Pepper 24 packs on sale for $5.99 (plus $2.10 for MI deposit). They have the same Hillshire brand of sausage for 2/$5. It’s February so it’s Paczki season. They have them for $2.99.

Wal-Mart
They seriously have the same ad as last week… Why!
Sad Run Through Kroger
Things are getting slim picking. They’re only going to get slimmer. The truck they expected this morning never arrived. Even when they do, it’s not a full load as usual. So while we are in a panic over the COVID-19 our stores are seeing the consequences of a poor harvest. Now the farmers can’t get the usual help they need because most of their assistance is from Central America. As in Honduras, El Salvador, and the rest of the countries down that way. Including Mexico. You still want that wall. You better get out there and start working for your food. That’s not even a joke people.
Wednesday Sales
This video is going to be geared more toward what we need to purchase to help us be as resistant as possible to any kind of bugs (and viruses) going around.
Remember, buy only what you and your family will eat.
Aldi’s
A chicken hind section is on sale for $.50 a pound. They had an okay selection considering the situation.

Kroger
Large bags of shredded cheese are on sale for $5.99 that would usually be $6.99. Not bad. Ice Cream is on sale 2/$5.

Meijer
Not a whole lot for sale except a buy 5 save $5.

Wal-Mart
Not impressed at all. I realize that some things are in-store purchase only but come on Wal-Mart. This wasn’t even worth the time to go to their site.

New Footage and Information
Alright, y’all, another day and another video inside my local Kroger. The meat department is not using their display counter because there was not enough room for the social distancing needed. There was no hot soup out or the hot bar wasn’t set up. They are focusing on cold cuts, cheeses, and salads. Right now, it makes sense. Plus, Kroger is only allowing so many units per department. The hours are adjusted from 7 am to 10 pm in early March from 7 am to 9 pm on March 20. The bottle room was closed yesterday. They have designated hours for seniors and those of us who have compromised immune systems when they first open from 7 am to 8 am. That whole hour is reserved. It’s sad that we as a society have gotten to a point that this is necessary.
Baking Blooper
I recorded this video on Saturday. I couldn’t understand why it didn’t bake all the way through. At about 8 o’clock it hit me “the wrong measurement for the flour”. So consider this video what not to do when you bake.

Today’s Visit to Kroger
Honestly this panic our government and media is causing is ridiculous.
