This video has some basic food safety tips for beginners. Also, it can be a refresher for experienced Grillers.

Seeing my phone won’t corporate and load the video, I will give you the tips here.. 1. Cross contamination… This occurs when pork and any other meat cross the same space without cleaning between them. Seriously this dangerous. If you are new to grilling I recommend your work along side someone experienced.

2. Mayo based salads pose another risk. These side salads are delicious. However, longer then two hours they can start to develop micro-organisms which can you sick. If you really want these sides then keep them in a cooler on ice. Or better yet use marinated salads instead. They are made from oils and vinegar.

Protect Your Potatoes

I got watching Ice Age Farmer’s video on Trump telling people in Virginia to protect their potatoes from their ‘crazy governor’. He’s one to talk. He makes a point about people needing to protect their food. Yes! I agree… If you want to know why let’s look at Chile. They are rioting over food shortages. Coronavirus be damned. They don’t care about this stupid lockdown. They know they’re on the verge of being starved. Yet people here don’t realize that we are heading the same direction. Look at the flaws that have been exposed about our food supply chain. Last year there was a Tyson plant burnt down and no real investigation. This year farmers are being told to cull their livestock. Also, a centuries-old Fisherman Warf in San Francisco was burned with a full stock to be processed. I shared an interview with a rancher out of Texas this month. The farmers rebelled against the government and gave their produce to families in need out in Idaho. Not long after, Ivanka Kushner started buying those same products and begin having it distributed to food banks. Remember the Food Boxes Trump proposed in 2017 and got major push back on. They were going to replace food stamp program, here they are three years later. The right engineered disaster opened the door. The governor of Washington State is willing to let the apples for the year rot on the trees. Never mind that’s how people make money for their families. Some of these orchards are multigenerational.

Weekend Plans

Over the next couple of days I am going to do some recording. I am also putting together for Anarchy Land video for Monday.

The plan in my head is this, do another leftover makeover and do some treats adding ground flax seed, wheat germ, and Chia seeds. We are going make favorite treats which are loved and add nutrition.

Leftover Makeover: Baked Pasta

This is super easy to put together. Leftover pasta and sauce mixed together. Top with cheese. Bake 350 for about 20 minutes and easy as that. Here’s a variety of sides to serve with it: Garlic bread or garlic cheese bread Veggie tray or salad Dessert: Endless possibilities

News From The Food Chain

Here we go into another week in the twilight zone. The first article is about how Kentucky officials want the Department of Justice to investigate the meatpacking industry. When you first start reading this article, notice the verbiage they are using “the farmers are complaining”. It’s being phrased as if to say “How dare the farmers to want fair market price for their goods” and condescend the farmers. Treating the farmers like greedy little kids that want more of the pie than they earned. Farmers are right to complain. The price for meat at the store is going up and I will address this in another article. Yet the market where they sell their livestock is going down. So yes, they are being screwed along with the truckers who haul the livestock. 

From March first to May first the grocery cost went up 1.6%. It is insane to think of what the cost will be by the end of the year. If you look at history when there is a pandemic there is a rise in the cost of food. The last time this level of insane rising was in 1974. There was inflation. Later in that decade, there was an embargo on oil from Iran. Overall there was a sweet and salty lining to this dark cloud. Sweets and snacks went down in price. Yeah! The stuff that isn’t that great for us is cheaper than the stuff that is. What else is new? 

The last article is on misleading labels:

  1. Organic – this means there is a list of herbicides and pesticides which can’t be used during the growing and harvesting process. As for livestock, it just means they must be given organic feed for most of their diet. 
  2. Grass-Fed – this just means the livestock ate grass for the majority of their lives. Not all of their lives.
  3.  Product of the USA – talk about a scam, man is this the biggest scam out there next to the Organic USDA Certified. Certified BS! Truth is the livestock are raised somewhere else and sent here then killed and butchered.
