Food Recalls and Unemployment

Hello! How are y’all doing? I hope well. This blog and video are going on both channels. We’re going to talk about food recalls and the new unemployment numbers going up. What does this mean for us? A couple of days ago I came across an article about how the Tyson plant in Columbia South Carolina is closing with no plans to reopen. This is sad because it means that 100+ more people who want to work are permanently losing the only full-time job that was offered to them. Then I came across an article by Catherine Thorbecke did for ABC. The unemployment numbers have gone up again 1.5 million more people are now going to be unemployed for who knows how long. In the last four months, we have broken the Great Depression record of unemployed people. I’m not talking about those who are refusing to go back to work because CNN tells them there’s a boggy man virus that is going to kill you. By the way, it came from China. I am talking about the people who wanted to work during the lockdown because they knew that government promises of stays of evictions and/or foreclosures were a scam. Their jobs have been stolen from them by the government including Trump Almighty, and they don’t know what they are going to do in some cases because they were years within retirement. Some are the only full-time job which was offered in their area. Now gone forever.

Meanwhile, the USDA is getting ready to shell out $228 million to farmers affected by the COVID-19. You knew the immigrant labor because most Americans are too lazy or prideful to actually plant anything besides their asses on their couches as they binge-watch junk… And eat junk. That brings me to the story on Impossible Foods company that Tyler Clifford did for NBC. To start with I am going to say right now I am not against a Vegan or Vetegterain diet. Check with your doctor to see what nutrients you will have to supplement.  But do it because you want to do this. Not because some food nazi is telling you ‘go vegan or else’. First of all, what are they going to do, raise a finger? They don’t get all of the nutrients they need so they can’t really do anything beyond screaming.

Pantry Chili

This a lighter chili compared to what we eat during the winter.

Ingredients

1 can of Corn

1 can of pork

1 can of tomatoes (diced plain)

1 can of tomatoes, chili seasoned

1 can of tomatoes with green chilis

2 small cans of mushrooms

Put everything in your crockpot. Season the way your family likes and change ingredients to what your family likes or what you have on hand.

Second Anniversary of Canning: Pork

When you can your own meat you get a sense of satisfaction knowing you’re not completely dependent on a store for this part of life. Yes, I had to buy the pork from Kroger. It is what it is for right now.

Here are some important things to remember:

Pint jars are 75 minutes or 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Quarts jars are 90 minutes or 1 hour and 30 minutes.

If you run a session with quarts with a pint you must use the quart time.

Cut Pork, (or whatever meat you are using) into uniform sizes. This way it all gets done at the same time.  Wipe your rim off. Especially if you are using high-fat meat like pork roast.  Keep your manual close. Don’t live your canner running unsupervised. Other than that, can away and have a wonderful time.

Federalizing Mistakes

During Trump’s 2016 campaign he promised to federalize the police. He promised better training, equipment, and more authority. Also, limited liability means they can’t be sued as quickly as in the past. Granted he didn’t make it in the first 100 days as he promised, as a matter of fact, he didn’t get the opportunity until halfway through his fourth year. He has referred to himself as a ‘Wartime President’ and ‘President of Law and Order’. After the situation in Minnesota, which details are still up for debate, Trump an executive order which will make it illegal for police to use chokeholds of any kind. While I agree cops shouldn’t be expected to act as drug councilors, homeless services, a marriage therapist in domestic violence situations. They should be available as back up for the therapist to ensure a safe environment. The cops are supposed to be for serious situations. However, the idea of putting them under the umbrella of Homeland Security as Trump suggested that the police federal, state, and local isn’t the right path. Yes, they should coordinate when needed. I don’t want to walk down the sidewalk and see police that resembles storm troopers from Star Wars. Now there is extra pressure on officials because truck drivers are refusing to deliver to cities who defund their local law enforcement. Granted there was a trucker getting dragged out of vehicles and beaten to an inch of his life after the Rodney King protest. I don’t blame for not wanting to deliver to insecure areas. Because truckers have families that depend on their check and their lives matter too. So if these cities don’t have local law enforcement, what takes their place? Usually, if things get bad enough National Guards will be brought in. In a worst-case scenario, branches of the military could be brought out to bring things under control.

Can I Store Pre-Canned foods for Long Periods

Yes! A lot of the experienced preppers do buy pre-canned foods from stores and they will store them for long periods of time. However, there is on time of factory canned tops that won’t keep for long periods of time. The lovely pop tops. The cans which you can pull a tab and it’s open won’t last for long periods. From what I understand the area around the section you pull back and break lose after so many years.

With that said, it’s recommended to have a working pantry. This means you are rotating your stock out and you are replenishing what you use so nothing goes bad. Take advantage of 10/$10 sales every chance you get. If you want to research more on Prepper Pantries below is a link to Jamie at Guildbrook Farm. She is fantastic. And there are so many channels that you are bound to find someone you like.

How to Start a Prepper Food Pantry

Food Shortage Engineering

We are seeing a food shortage being engineered. How? We had a terrible Fall Harvest season in 2019 because of the crazy weather in the Spring. Our weather this Spring was no walk in the park either. Then we have the manufacturered illness which was released, along with a lot of crazy hype. COVID-19 was the end of the world as we know it scenario. Well, actually it was, for the farmers and/or ranchers. They were ordered to cull their market-ready herds. Vegetables were plowed under because the usual customers, restaurants, and schools were closed up in March.  Eventually, the framers and ranchers revolted against the cull demand from the government and started to give vegetables to families in their area which needed them. Also, about two weeks ago, ranchers and/or farmers started selling their herds to the general public. This means people like you and I had the opportunity to go and purchase these animals post-slaughter. Animals that would have gone to restaurants and schools.

Now our situation is this, over a third of Americans aren’t going to be able to pay their rent or mortgage. Why not? Their jobs were taken away. A lot of jobs will not be coming back because the business was a small business and now it’s gone. We also have the problem of 3 part-time jobs = 1 full-time job scenarios across the country. Of course, this varies from area to area. The cost of food will be going up 70% by the end of the year. While Beef prices might drop back to what they were in January, things like wheat, rice, and other grains will be going in the opposite direction. We have also seen countries keeping the bulk of their goods like rice, wheat, and other items for their own citizens. They should. If they don’t and you have people with hungry kids, you’re going to have problems.
