This was delicious. We will be making this again. Karrie serves this with rice, I used a stir-fry starter pack I got from Kroger. It was a good call. So beautiful. You would think it would be super sweet with the pineapple. Not so! The pineapple brings an acidic sweet balance to the salty Tamari sauce. What is tamari sauce? This is basically soy sauce that has stayed in the barrel longer to age. It has a nice rich flavor that soy sauce doesn’t have.
As a parent, this is simple enough that a 16 year and up could make it on their own.
Over the last few days, I have been trying to figure out a recording schedule that makes sense with her virtual school. So here’s what I have just now, seriously now, I will spend Tuesday and Thursday during the week for recording and Sunday on the weekend. Saturday is the seventh day of the week and I observe it.
As of this week, we saw the reduction of canning supplies being pulled from the stores until March 1, 2020. I should this in a video this week and I was still shocked. It’s so strange to see empty shelves in that section. I have noticed that the pectin is still on the shelves at Kroger. If you are seeing this please share.
After the lockdown and the empty sections on the shelves, many people freaked out. They blame those of us who had the mindset to have extra lids on the shelf for lean times. And we are in lean times. All the media are starting to play their blame game tactics to pit us against each other. In her article, Dana Sparks talks about how people are buying lids from Amazon and the boxes are original Ball boxes. The lids aren’t. Angie from Angie’s pantry had this happen. She wasn’t a happy camper, to say the least. You are paying Ball prices and you’re not getting Ball lids. I am going to plan a canning project for Friday after Thanksgiving here in the States which I will use one of each lid I have purchased from Amazon.
Let’s move on to food shortages. Feeding America is the top food bank in America. They are now reporting an upsurge in clients. Now stores are trying to figure out how they are going to deal with the holidays around the corner and the increasing shortages. This week I am going to lock down our plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Those are the two major cooking and baking holidays here. News Year Eve is usually easy. Whatever we have leftover from the other days and what we want to add on.

Today’s video will be simple and to the point. The citizens of Louisiana and Texas. They are about to be hit again by a hurricane. Two weeks ago they were hit by Laura and now Delta. Southern Boy Prepper has been sharing what the storm is like on the ground where it is and not tucked safely inside a studio miles away. It’s official Newell has officially pulled the bulk of their products geared toward food preservation from the shelves until March 1, 2021.
You can find some lids it’s just we don’t know the quality. We don’t know the origins. There is a lot of concern about them being from China regarding the lead and BPAs in the lids. I say this, last week Bev from Our Half Acre Homestead used lids she found at a dollar store made in China and she used them on camera. They worked as well as a Bernadine lid (Ball in Canada).
There wasn’t much for Coke a cola and no regular Dr. Pepper in 2-liters. Otherwise, these are images we are going to have to get used to seeing for a while. How long? I don’t know.
Okay, I didn’t get this Campbell’s Chili Mac from a food bank this time. I have in the past. And I wished I’d had this kind of video for a reference. We live in a time when most people’s new full-time job is waiting for food banks to open and hoping they get food.
Here is what I did for this presentation:
I used half a can of chili mac. Topped it with cheese before I put it into a toaster oven (you can use a regular oven) and baked it at 350 for 10 minutes. Topped with sour cream and called it dinner.

You could serve cornbread if you like. Remember this is what I did to feed one person. My daughter doesn’t care for stuff like this right now.
How are they linked? Simple. If your unemployment checks are bouncing you can’t buy food or pay bills. The Department of Labor has acknowledged that the checks they have deposited or sent out last week bounced. No, I am not kidding. This is no laughing matter. The average bank charge anywhere from $10 the first 24 hours after a bounced check. This fee can go up to $100. That is by the time you go from bad check to bad check. This isn’t a good sign. The government is shorting people. What in the hell is going on and how long do they plan on doing this?
For the food shortage part, we saw early this year after the lockdown, ranchers, and farmers were told by the government to cull their herds and plowing under their crops. That was because restaurants and schools closed and this particular line was for these venues. We also saw packers close and people freak out and panic buy everything from meat to toilet paper. That combination would make sense if they had gone to Bob Evans. Long story I won’t get into here. I wouldn’t usually take anything coming out of the United Nations seriously however when they warn of a global food shortage, I have bee paying attention. Because of what I am seeing in my area. And what other people on YouTube are sharing. These are people who’ve been doing this for a long time. They have prepped a bit longer than me. I have learned from them.

Now that the Mother company that owns Ball/Bernardine, Kerr, and Golden Harvest won’t be sending anything out until March 1, 2021 it was time to pull the trigger and get them. I love them so far.
