Fall is going to be here before we know it. For us it’s a push to make sure we have extra supplies of soap, shampoo/conditioner, toilet paper and other items so if we have a major snow storm than we are ready to be closed in for a couple days. This is for people who live in the north However, it’s also time to our Fall favorites ready to go in the oven. Below will be some quick breads you will find in kitchens across the north.
(If you don’t know what an quick bread is, here’s a quick description. They us baking powder and/or soda for their rising instead of yeast like traditional breads.)
PUMPKIN BREAD: My late mom made quick breads every year from October to Christmas. Banana nut was always a hit. Pumpkin bread was like announcing Fall is here.
ZUCCHINI BREAD: Okay this wasn’t and still isn’t a favorite of mine. You could also use other gourds like butternut squash for bread.
SWEET POTATOE (OR YAM) BREAD: I love sweet potato pie and casserole. I almost forgot cheesecake. Shame on me. I have no doubt this would be just as incredible as those.
FRUIT QUICK BREAD: We’re going to cover this right quick. Fruit quick breads are an awesome way to get your littles to try different fruits. What fruit can you use? Whatever you have. Just follow a basic recipe alternate the given fruit for what you have in the same measurement. And nuts if no one has allergies. Or you already have enough nuts in your life. That I completely understand.
What are some quick breads you grew up eating? I would love to know.
