Here are 33 incredible Russian recipes. Some look as good as they sound. I couldn’t identify individuals who wrote the post. I can tell the recipes are so good that it won’t matter. Below will be the ones that caught my eye.
SBITEN: This hot honey drink sounds like it would be a slice of heaven in the winter. You’ve got spices like cloves and cinnamon broken in to pieces. Also, nutmeg and ginger. These are boiled in water or a wine. You can add chilies. From there your sweet favtor is honey and blackberry jam.
KURNIK: This is Russia’s Chicken Pot Pie. Yeah… Pass me a serving of this. It’s the classic chicken pot pie with elevated flavor of dill.
BEEF STROGANOFF (STTAGNOV): This is a classic comfort food. It’s beefy and thick sauce and mushrooms. Served over potatoes in some form or noodles. I am sure each region of the former Soviet block had their way of making this. This recipe calls for mustard seed or whole grain mustard. That’s a new one. I am sure that you could use a less expensive cut of beef. Good luck finding it. Mushrooms, onions, sour cream and you have to make a classic roux with flour and butter. Beef broth or a dark red wine. Tomato paste. This is where the tomatoe paste in a tube will be handy.
RUSSIAN “OLIVIE” SALAD: In the Russian language this is called Салат “Оливье”. With this you have potatoes, cartots, pickles, cucumbers and peas. With bologna. Possibly a onion and chives. For the dressing its simply as it gets. Mayo. Yeah.
WHITE RUSSIAN CAKE: Now let’s look at a sweet dessert. This cake is vanilla and chocolate in one cake. Once it’s baked you soak it withKalua or coffee liqueur. 🥰 Need I say more….
That’s it. These are the dishes that stood out to me. How about you? What dish from the post stood out to you. If you grew up eating these, what’s your favorite????
