This post was inspired by Lisa Sharp at Retro Housewife Goes Green. It’s a combination of tips she has collected over time. Below are ones I liked.

AVOID MESSES: Use newspaper to collect peels from vegetables. Of course, today we garbage disposals. I personally don’t like them. So if I peel veggies, I will us a GB (Garbage Bowl) thank you Rachel Ray.

ORGANIZATION: This such a simple idea. But it saves so much time. Before you start cooking gather everything you need. Have your recipe (or recipes) at hands reach with utensils. This is something I remember my late mom doing. And her mom did.

BAKE ONCE EAT TWICE: That’s right. When you have your oven going do a batch cooking. Save your self time and energy over the summer.

PREPARE ICE CREAM AHEAD: Seriously! Scoop out ice cream and place on a cookie sheet to freeze. This way you have the scoops ready and you just have to pull them out and serve.

What are some tips you grew up with? Feel free to share.

Hello y'all! I have hit a point in my life that I miss the simple dishes and times that my parents grew up in. People were kind to each other and the food was homemade from scratch. Before convince food was everywhere. Oh, those were the days... Let's reclaim them and start cooking from scratch again.
