This article has a vareity of dishes with roots in the Middle Ages. Poland has a dish they serve called Makowiee. It’s a dessert with poppy seeds. They tend to serve twelve dishes at Christmas. I hope there is no pair of turtle doves involved.

Spain has The Three Kings day on January fifth. The children love this day is when they get gifts. They have a cake with dried and candied fruit. With powdered sugar on top. The Catalonia region has a soup that is rich and delicious.

South and Central America countries have their own traditions. In Mexico they make Tamales on Christmas Eve. It’s always interesting to see how other countries celebrate holidays we have as well. We focus on trivial things like clothing and gifts or baskets. They focus on traditions and family.
