Russian Fast Food: Belyashi

The Belyashi is similar to our hot pockets. Meat filled fried goodness!

These couldn’t be easier to make. And fairly inexpensive. The most expensive part now days would be the meat. Use store brand oil and your set. You have to make the dough and let it proof. During this time you can assemble the filling.

What goes in the filling? During the Soviet Union, it would’ve varied by location. General items were salt, pepper, onion and whatever herbs were available. The directions tell how to fold these dumplings.

What would go with them? Russian Potato Salad comes to mind.
