Watch “What is the BEST soy sauce? So many to choose, does it matter? | Marion’s Test Kitchen” on YouTube

Our girl Marion is trying Soy Sauces in this video. First she tried them by regions. Second is by price. Third she tries them on fried rice. Now she doesn’t know how her team set them up for the taste test. Marion’s mom is from Thailand and her dad is Australian.

First. Marion goes into depth about what soy sauce is. Okay. Mation gives a really nice brief description. She explains which is the more salty compared to least salty. Believe it or not the lightier the sauce the saltier. As Marion is tasting each sauce there’s a scale she’s rating them on. The Thai soy sauce is lighter. The Japanese had a stronger flavor and Chinese was more mellow.

Second test. Of course, she got them right. Winner Pearl Rivier. It has a richer deeper flavor.

Third is fried rice. The fried rice with the Thai sauce is lighter. Healthy Boy. Rice number two: Japanese soy sauce darker in color and a bit more intense. Definitely Umomi. Pearl Rivier (Chinese) the premium is the winner between the cheap and budget version. The tast is off.

Marion recommended the Pearl River for those who want to keep one soy sauce. She and many home cooks will have one bottle of soy per cuisine. I have been watching Marion for about a year. I have seen her use Kikkoman’s, Pearl Rivier, and Healthy Boy brands in her videos. These have been her go to soy sauces. There are other ones she uses.

Hello y'all! I have hit a point in my life that I miss the simple dishes and times that my parents grew up in. People were kind to each other and the food was homemade from scratch. Before convince food was everywhere. Oh, those were the days... Let's reclaim them and start cooking from scratch again.
