Things You Should Never Buy at the Grocery Store | MyRecipes

This is a great list of things to avoid at the store. Convenience items. I given and buy watermelon cut up. For us it makes sense because a large one is too much for us to get through at a reasonable time. Usually it set in the fridge and go bad. So watermelon pre-cut for two is a good thing.

For the premeasured items. No! I know how to use a scale and measuring utensils. As for cooked rice from the freezer, I will pass. We cook rice when we want it or again it’ll go bad. Same with beans. I am the only one that likes refried beans so there’s no point in making a huge bowl. We leep them canned both home and commercially canned.

Freezer veggies. These are a great deal at Walmart. I know my daughter works for Kroger’s but Walmart has them for $.94 cents and Kroger’s is $1.00 for the same bag. Now If I don’t need a lot at the store than the $1.00 is a better deal.

Save money and do as much prep work yourself. As long as you aren’t the only one who enjoys a particular item. If that’s the case than buy one convenience box of butternut squash soup or pasta sauce. Snacks can be bought in bulk and divided up at home. Reuse those zip bags as long as there was no raw meat in them. Don’t use more saran wrap or foil than neccessary and when you can reuse it.

Hello y'all! I have hit a point in my life that I miss the simple dishes and times that my parents grew up in. People were kind to each other and the food was homemade from scratch. Before convince food was everywhere. Oh, those were the days... Let's reclaim them and start cooking from scratch again.
