Watch “SOVIET RETAIL” on YouTube

A week or two ago I posted an article from one of these recycle narcissists talking about how she’s helping the planet by reducing the amount of plastic she uses. In that post I discussed Ushanka Show with Siergey who grew up in Kiev Ukraine through the 70s until communism collapsed. That’s a post for my other blog.

Siergy talked about how adults would carry a mesh bag with them to work every day. That if they came across a fruit they like but rarely buy they can. Also he talked about how his mom had to clean jars thoroughly before taking them back to the stores. You see up till the mid-90s the Soviet Union didn’t use plastic containers that much. They used glass. Their mayo didn’t have additives and preservatives in them. They didn’t need all that junk. You bought a small jar of mayo, used it over four days then went back for another. That clean jar would be returned to be sterilized then reused.

Hello y'all! I have hit a point in my life that I miss the simple dishes and times that my parents grew up in. People were kind to each other and the food was homemade from scratch. Before convince food was everywhere. Oh, those were the days... Let's reclaim them and start cooking from scratch again.
